Dubrovnik is among the best cities to visit along the Dalmatian coast. The stunning sights and the classic architecture of the city attract a large number of tourists every year.
The main attraction of the city is the Old Town which is surrounded by a massive wall, bastions, ramparts, and towers. In the Old Town, you can also enjoy yourself with your friends and family as you visit shops, restaurants, and churches in the area. The architecture of the Old Town is dated but is well-maintained by the city.
If you are a big fan of Game of Thrones, you must know that the famous scenes set in Qarth and King’s Landing were shot in Dubrovnik.
To show your followers that you appreciate the architecture and history of the city and can make great references to pop culture, you need to take some amazing Instagram pictures in Dubrovnik during your stay.
Here Are the Top Instagrammable Places in Dubrovnik That Are Worth a Visit
1. Ploče Gate
The Ploče Gate is one of the quietest historic gates to Dubrovnik’s Old City. It is one of the three but arguably the most impressive gates leading to the Old City.
This is because the more famous Pile Gate is near a bus stop in the west, while the Buža Gate to the Old City is near a large parking area. The Ploče Gate is in the east and takes a lot more work to get into, which is why you will find only a few people on your way.
This stunning gate was built in the 14th century and has a revered historical appeal. At the entrance of the gate, you will find the massive Revelin Fortress, and above the entrance, you can see the statue of the city’s patron saint, Sveti Vlaho.

Many people who visit the city are unaware that Dubrovnik’s Old City is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site that dates back to the 13th century. No matter which alley or street you visit in the Old City, you will come across plenty of photo opportunities everywhere you go.
#MondoExplorerTip: You can pose in front of the 2 Onofrio’s Fountains or the tower of the Franciscan Monastery for an instantly recognizable Dubrovnik picture or take a unique shot while wandering around the Old City on your own or with a couple of friends.

4. St. Lawrence Fortress
St. Lawrence Fortress is situated on a 37-meter-high rock west of the Old City. This fortress is positioned to protect the West Harbour and was built in the 11th century.
Locals will tell you the legend of this fortress of how it was built in just three months by the people of Dubrovnik. The width of the fortress walls is almost twelve meters in some places, which makes it such a well-structured and strong fortress.
It has played the part of the Red Keep in Game of Thrones, and its dated walls make for terrific backdrops for photographs. Although this fortress is not a part of the Dubrovnik City Walls, you can also visit this location if you have a ticket to the Old City Walls route.

If you are an architecture nerd, you will love the Rector’s Palace in Luza Square. The Palace was built in the 14th century and has impressive Baroque, Renaissance, and Gothic elements.
You will find incredible little details as you begin to explore the palace and photo opportunities as you visit different sections. If you are a Game of Thrones fan, you’ll feel excited to know that the Rector’s Palace was the Spice King’s mansion in Qarth in the series.

6. Dubrovnik Old City Walls
There’s a high chance that the first thing you will see when you google Dubrovnik online are the Dubrovnik Old City Walls.
As you walk around these walls, you will be able to enjoy the stunning views of the sparkling Adriatic Sea and the stunning Old City with its colored rooftops. After getting your tickets, there are three spots where you can join the anticlockwise route.
Since Pile Gate is the busiest spot, the best spots to enter are the Maritime Museum or the Ploče Gate. The walls link together several forts and towers of the city and are at least six meters wide and twenty-five meters tall in some places.
#MondoExplorerTip: Because the journey can get strenuous, we recommend carrying a water bottle with you as you photograph scenic spots on the route.

7. Dubrovnik Old Port
Dubrovnik Old Port is a spectacular little alcove that is formed by the sides of Dubrovnik’s defenses. Most of the time, you will find the port packed with small yachts and several small restaurants cooking tempting local food. The location has an irresistible historic charm that makes it a perfect spot for Instagram pictures.
You will also be able to visit the giant Fort St. Ivana at the entrance of the port, which may look like a prison due to its small windows and thick walls but is actually an aquarium and maritime museum. If you follow the waterside footpath after the fort, you will reach the small pier with a lighthouse at the end called the Porporela.

8. Jesuit Staircase to St. Ignatius Church
Every Game of Thrones fan can instantly recognize these iconic stairs that start from Gundulić Square to the St. Ignatius Church and were featured at the beginning of Cersei Lannister’s walk of shame. Although we don’t recommend recreating the scene, a stylish picture on these steps can make for an impressive Instagram shot.
These Baroque stairs were modeled after the Spanish Steps of Rome in reality and were completed in 1725. The St. Ignatius Church is just as incredibly Instagrammable as these steps, with stunning frescoes and the city’s oldest bell, dating back to 1355.
