Explore the surrounding area of Bogotá on this day trip to Villa de Leyva! Known for its colonial architecture and cobblestone walkways, Villa de Leyva is a unique village you won’t want to miss visiting while in Colombia.

After pickup from your Bogotá hotel, head north towards Villa de Leyva. On the way to the village, stop at Boyacá Bridge, where the Battle of Boyacá took place in the 1800s, securing Colombia’s independence from the Spaniards.

Once you reach the village, admire the picturesque colonial architecture as you follow your knowledgeable guide around the village. See Plaza Mayor (Main Square), which is in the center of the village. See many local shops and restaurants in the square as your guide teaches you about the rich history of this small village.

Then, visit the Convento Santo Ecce Homo, which is now a historic site. Once a monastery, this beautiful building holds a mysterious charm. Stroll through the outdoor garden area while observing the exquisite architecture of the building. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant (not included) for an authentic Colombian meal before heading to Raquirá.
