The first thing that comes to most people’s minds when they think of food and Argentina is meat . . . organic, great quality, grass-fed beef from the Pampas region of the country that has become synonymous with all things Argentinian. And, while you’re right to expect unbelievable meats in Buenos Aires, you’ll also run into a lot of other treats native to the country (think empanadas, dulce de leche, alfajores, or the wonderful ice cream). Eating out in this city will no doubt be one of the best parts of any visit. Café life is alive and well here, very reminiscent of the Parisian love for the café, and there are several lovely spots that are well over 100 years old. Take note: dining hours in Buenos Aires are late. Lunch can be anytime between noon and 4 p.m., and dinner is almost always after 9 p.m. (be aware that many restaurants close between the lunch and dinner hours). Buen Provecho!
