Melding neighborhood butcher and wine bar, The Butcher Shop is one of Chef Barbara Lynch’s many acclaimed ventures in Boston (others include South End neighbors B&G Oysters and Plum Produce). During the day, locals walk out with house-made chicken stock or sausages; by night The Butcher Shop is a casual-classy spot to have a long chat over artisan Old World wines complemented by either small plates or a full meal. The space doesn’t feel too crowded as some guests sit at high tables; others sit at the bar or cluster around the (clean) butcher block. The service is friendly and helpful, and a plate as simple as fresh bread with butter and honey becomes out of this world. There’s metered parking on Tremont Street and the meters are off at 8PM.
